LEADER TEARS

*When the Coat Came Off*:

A Lesson from Kirinyaga’s Pastor

Today’s most powerful sermon didn’t come from a pulpit full of theology — it came from a torn shirt.

In Kirinyaga, Rev. Murage stood tall before his congregation — sharp suit, polished shoes, calm composure. The image of confidence itself.

.........

But then, he quietly took off his coat… and beneath it was an old, torn shirt.

.........

A gasp swept through the room. The message hit home instantly.

He said nothing for a moment — he didn’t need to.

Because that shirt was us.

... The professionals showing up at work in suits but breaking quietly inside.

... The cheerful friend who makes everyone laugh yet cries themselves to sleep.

... The leader motivating others while silently battling doubt, fear, or fatigue.

Rev. Murage’s act was a reminder that not everything broken is visible.

As Proverbs 14:13 puts it, “Even in laughter the heart may ache.”

So before you judge, dismiss, or envy someone — remember, everyone’s carrying something unseen.

Sometimes the strongest smile hides the deepest scar.

Let’s be kinder, softer, more human. You never know who’s wearing a torn shirt under their coat
